…make it the Anchor in Newlyn.
Open to the public for the first time this year as part of the Open Studios event, this wildly atmospheric studio in Newlyn was once the workplace of 19th-century Newlyn trailblazer Stanhope Forbes and has, it would seem, changed brilliantly little since. It’s all overgrown outside and untouched within, and has the sort of views that give everyone the feeling (an illusion in my case) they could paint.
It is now occupied by artist Virginia Bounds, whose still-lifes had me swooning.
You can check out all the other studios that are open this week here. Ends 5 June. www.bsjwtrust.co.uk
